The science of love

W hen do you know if you fancy someone? What does love do to your brain chemicals, and is falling in love just nature's way to keep our species alive? We call it love. It feels like love. But the most exhilarating of all human emotions is probably nature’s beautiful way of keeping the human species alive and reproducing. With an irresistible cocktail of chemicals, our brain entices us to fall in love. We believe we’re choosing a partner. But we may merely be the happy victims of nature’s lovely plan.    It’s not what you say.. . Psychologists have shown it takes between 90 seconds and 4 minutes to decide if you fancy someone. Research has shown this has little to do with what is said, rather 55% is through body language 38% is the tone and speed of their voice Only 7% is through what they say The 3 stages of love Helen Fisher of Rutgers University in the States has proposed 3 stages of love – lust, attraction and attachment. Each stage might be driven by different hor

School massacres in America - Pacific South Morning Journal

Where do these School shootings really come from..? Is this latest massacre, in Fla., a sign that we need stricter gun laws, stricter Mental Health Laws, more report ability between school/mental health and the police or is it a huge sign that we have truly entered the throes of a sick and inane society… ? A former student at a Florida high school returned to his campus with deadly intent on Wednesday, reportedly donning a gas mask and killing at least 17 people with an AR-15 assault rifle. Pupils at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, 30 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, hid under desks and cowered in cupboards as the gunfire rang out. The alleged gunman, named as Nikolas Cruz, 19, had previously attended the high school and was expelled for unspecified disciplinary reasons. We found actually Cruz was expelled last school year after a fight with his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. A former classmate reports that Cruz had been abusive to his girlfriend.

20 Things You Didn't Know About ... Color- Pacific South Morning Journal

The human eye actually sees only three colors, scientists refer to color in terms of wavelength, and coloring foods goes back at least 3,500 years. 1. For centuries, academics thought colored light was modified white, or “pure,” light. (We’ll get back to how wrong they were in a bit.) 2. And color sometimes is a modifier. For example, coloring foods goes back at least 3,500 years, when ancient Egyptians added wine and other colorants to candy to increase its visual appeal. 3. The history of coloring food is stained with nefarious deeds. Toxic lead- and mercury-based compounds were once pervasive in Asia and Europe to add color to tea and cayenne and curry powders. 4. In the mid-18th century, Americans were so used to yellow milk, tinted with lead chromate to disguise the bluishness of watered-down dairy, that people refused to purchase white milk, thinking it had been colored. 5. They weren’t entirely wrong. In the 1660s, Isaac Newton demonstrated white light is anythin

Duterte says he does not lie -

By Ellen Tordesillas I THOUGHT President Duterte had an epiphany when I read the news reports that he admitted his promise to solve the drug problem turned out as a “fiasco.” He said it during the 45th anniversary of the National Economic and Development Authority Tuesday. He said it in the course of enumerating his accomplishments as he continued basking on the 15 million votes that installed him in Malacañang: “Because I carried or I am carrying now a very simple set of rules or messages. One, I said, I will try, I can only try to stop corruption. Second is, the problem of drugs has overwhelmed the Philippine fabrics of society, and this has to be controlled or stop altogether. Third is that, I would talk to all the enemies of the state, make peace with them, reach out a deal if possible. And fourth is that, I will allow the brightest financial managers of our country to help me run the economic side. “ He continued: “Lahat ho ‘yannagawakona. Pero ginagawako pa rin because it rema
