I f you think the cost of living in the Philippines is cheap, think again.  Most middle-class Filipinos pay with their own money for what their peers in industrialised nations get back through taxpayer-funded public services.  Middle-class Filipinos pay for expensive private schools because the public schools in the Philippines are substandard. Middle-class Filipinos pay for expensive private hospitals because government run health clinics are overcrowded and understaffed.  Expats in the Philippines deal with the same struggles, have the same hurdles as middle class Filipinos. All that is because of corruption and the stupid voters who elect these corrupt politicians into power.
