Three foreigners will be deported for overstaying in the country, the Bureau of Investigation (BI) said on Wednesday.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the three were caught in separate operations in Pasig and Cavite.

“They will be deported for overstaying, as these foreign nationals never bothered to extend their stay when their tourist visa expired,” Morente said in a statement.

BI Acting Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said two British nationals Kevin Hadfield, 68, and Kevin Stanley Eifert, 67, were nabbed on Sept. 3 in Bacoor town and Dasmariñas City in Cavite province, respectively. Both have been overstaying in the country since 2008.

Meanwhile, an American national, Todd Null, 49, was also arrested last September 3rd for overstaying in the country since 2015.

Morente reminded foreigners staying in the country to update and ensure the validity of their visas.

“Foreigners staying in the Philippines have a responsibility to ensure that their visas are valid and updated,” he said.

When it comes to immigration, the Philippines tends to be as strict as they can be compared to almost everything else. Maybe certain western countries should take notice that many countries in the world take illegal immigration seriously, not just the Philippines.

In 2017, a record number of foreigners were deported from the Philippines. More than 1,500 foreigners were deported for violating Philippine immigration laws. That number is nearly four times more than the number deported the year prior. The sharp increase is largely due to the mass deportation of Chinese nationals involved in illegal gambling. 29 Americans were included in that total.

SO, get your visa stamp, extension, annual check-in… whatever it is you need to do to bring your immigration status current, or you too will find yourself on the bus! And remember, the return ticket home is on you, and if you don’t have enough money for one, you will sit in a deportation cell for who knows how long.

How Brexit turned the UK German

Industrial strategy, devolution and public investment. Stian Westlake offers up a fairy tale. of 2017. Share: When Britain voted to leave the European Union, few people expected it would result in the UK becoming more like Germany, the country that runs the European show. But that’s what ended up happening, and it was in 2017 that the process really began. Industrial strategy was the first step. Theresa May’s government decided that Britain’s ever-increasing trade deficit was a luxury that the UK, as an independent nation, could no longer afford. Already in 2016 Philip Hammond had begun to deviate from decades of Treasury orthodoxy by announcing £23 billion of investments into infrastructure, skills and research. Over the course of 2017, the UK proved the Treasury view wrong by investing effectively in downstream R&D, identifying its real industrial strengths, focusing big government budgets like health and energy on innovation, and sowing the seeds for a revival of productive bu...

A Historic Rejection of Democrats - ACQUITTED - Pacific South Morning Journal

T he Senate overwhelmingly acquitted President Trump on both articles of impeachment against him Wednesday afternoon following a brief trial, in a historic rejection of Democrats' claims that the president's Ukraine dealings and handling of congressional subpoenas merited his immediate removal from office. Several Congressional Democrats, speaking to Fox News, were dejected on Capitol Hill late Wednesday, even as they said they hoped to weaponize the acquittal votes by several moderate Republicans in swing states. "We all knew how this was going,” one senior House Democratic source told Fox News. “But everyone’s depressed. Especially because of Iowa," where the first-in-the-nation caucuses have been plagued by mismanagement. Another Democratic source also said that impeachment “went as well as it could go.” There was significant consternation among House Democrats about heading down the impeachment road at all over the summer, Fox News is told, but Democra...
