A Little History On The Hub Directory - Pacific South Morning Journal

A little history on The Hub Directory

The rationale for putting this together was so that expats could get recommendations from other expats, for any area of the country just by pulling up a national directory. Easy right? But developing it was a different story.

As we asked for the guys to share their favourite hangouts the recommendations trickled in slowly over time and it took about 2 years to get to this point. Whew !!.. What a long haul ! but finally we got to the place where we thought it would be a useful piece of work.

We have covered the whole country and we know there is much more to come. As I see it, expats helping expats is a beautiful thing and this directory was made possible with many, many people (all expats) making their recommendations.

Honestly, it was more work than I realized that it would be at the outset.. Of course once we received a recommendation every establishment had to be researched and then entered in a specific format…

By-the-way many of the establishments are restaurants, burger places bars and other like hangouts. There are however other entries as well..

The beauty of the setup is the “search box” located at the top of each page. For example if you type in Cebu you will get all of the entries from Cebu. If you type in American Food, Mexican, or Pizza you will get all entries associated with American food etc, and so on.. It makes a specific search possible and it works great!

One small thing to look for is ; as you scroll down a page , just looking at all of the entries, when you get to the bottom where it looks like there are no more entries just click on “more” at the bottom of the page and it will continue showing you more entries. You may not see this feature unless you are looking for it.

Speaking of entries… When you see one that you want information about, for example.. “Hot dog Charlie’s” just click on it and it will bring up all the info on “Hot Dog Charlie’s” for you.. Then continue poking around if you wish.. J

Just to be clear.. There is no click bait.. no asking for donations or fees of any kind. It is purely free for the using.. No registration, No membership is even required although if you’re an Expat World Member you know about it over others who aren’t might not … Maybe down the road we can get discounts for Expat World Members… Just a thought…So use it.. Send me recommendations of additional places, in your area, that you think would make a good listing and have some fun.

Sincerely Gil
